After completing her post-graduate Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences (Bsc) from the University of Queensland in 2003, Isobel began her General Practice specialty training in Melbourne where she obtained her fellowship (FRACGP).  She spent four years working in Melbourne, followed by three years in Sydney in a variety of specialty practices before returning to her home state of Queensland.

Isobel is passionate about all aspects of general practice – from paediatrics, adolescent and young adult care, through the middle years and older, Isobel has an astute respect for the personalised and diverse nature of medicine throughout the lifespan.  She enjoys and respects the variety, challenge and responsibility of General Practice.  Having developed an interest in allergic conditions after the birth of her second child, Isobel embarked on further training, completing her Diploma in Allergic Diseases from UNSW in 2013.  She had the privilege of meeting and working with some of Australia’s leading allergists which has provided profound insight into the current allergy epidemic which she shares with her patients.

Isobel loves to keep a close eye on emerging scientific research and applies this to both acute health hurdles and chronic conditions.  This research is overwhelmingly acknowledging the importance of addressing lifestyle factors in order to achieve best preventive health outcomes.  Isobel also enjoys practical procedures and performs skin checks and biopsies, ear suctions and iron infusions.

In her down-time Isobel is kept grounded by her role as a mum of 2 children.  Along with her husband and new puppy, they love being in the great outdoors, travelling, camping, and climbing mountains.

Dr Isobel Walker operates her own medical services business at Kedron Wavell Medical Centre.
